Apprentice Application
Before filling out the application please review the following information:
Schedule
As a Seed to Seed apprentice you will be working on three host farms in your area. S2S will collaborate with you in order to get you placed on the right farms for your apprenticeship. You will be working on each of these farms every week on a rotating schedule starting as early as March 1st. Your formal S2S apprenticeship will end the week before Thanksgiving. Continuing work with your host farms after your apprenticeship will be solely arranged by you and your host farms.
For more detailed information about scheduling see Apprentice Information.
Work and Pay
Daily hours of work will be scheduled with your host farms. S2S will assist in setting up your rotating schedule but keeping track of your host farms’ work hours will be your responsibility. You will also be required to reach out and interview with your prospecting host farms based on your mutual availability.
All work policies except scheduling, including pay and pay dates, will be determined by your host farms.
You will be paid at least minimum wage by your host farms. You will be on your host farms’ books as a regular employee and subject to all their work policies, insurance policies, and pay policies. S2S will be compensating your host farm for up to 50% of your labor on their farm. It is S2S’s responsibility to address this wage compensation with your host farms.
Course Work
Apprentices will be required to complete four core courses and two additional workshops before receiving their certificate.
Core Courses will be offered virtually in the spring and fall, not during the height of the growing season. Core courses will be offered in the evenings on weekdays. Dates and times to be announced.
Attending additional workshops and classes will be the responsibility of the apprentice and Seed to Seed will require verification that apprentices attended and/or completed workshops and classes. For example, attending a Young Farmer Network farm tour and a Northeast Organic Farmer’s workshop would fulfill an apprentices workshop obligation. Seed to Seed will need a signed form from the workshop host to verify that an apprentice attended and completed the event.
Application
Seed to Seed will have a limited number of apprenticeship positions to offer in 2025. Please fill out and submit the apprenticeship application. We are currently accepting applications until March 31st, 2025.
